On Tuesday the former prime minister, Raila Odinga held a meeting with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
Although the details of their discussions were not disclosed, political analysts say it was a political agenda. The main agenda might have been to settle on one candidate for upcoming Wajir West Parliamentary seat by-election.
Wajir West Parliamentary elections were canceled by the supreme court.
ODM is planning to field Prof. Mohamed Yussuf Elmi, on another hand, KANU has settled on Abdirahman Mohamed against Jubilee’s Mohamed Kolosh whose election was nullified by the Supreme Court.
Apart from discussing the by-election, its believed the two that is official opposition leader Raila Odinga and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi are regrouping for 2022.
Raila Odinga his eyeing for the presidency in 2022 also Gideon Moi. Raila Odinga has been a contestant for the presidency since 1997 apart from 2002 which he formed a coalition with Mwai Kibaki. He and other Kanu members who had fallen out president Daniel Torotich Arap Moi.
Their main challenger is Rift Valley Kingpin and the current Deputy President William Samoei Ruto. Ruto has been on the war of words with Gideon Moi and NASA leader for the past 5 years.
The two leaders also discussed the handshake between Raila Odinga and President Kenyatta. The former premier had a meeting with President Uhuru who later agreed to work together with.
The handshake has been viewed by many as an away of finishing Ruto politically. Some believe that Raila Odinga may work with President Kenyatta to support Gideon Moi. Since handshake, Raila has met several Rift Valley leaders as amove of the bridge-building initiative.
Gideon Moi who is the son of second president Daniel Torotich Moi believes he has the votes of Rift Valley. However, Senator Moi, his party didn’t deliver many last elections.
